Second-hand bag sold for more than ₱15M breaks record

Jane Birkin must be so proud after finding out that the bag named after her is dubbed as the “undisputed most valuable bag in the world” and the “most desired bag in existence”.

A decade-old white Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Diamond Birkin 30 has broken the world record for an auction-sold bag when it went for £162,500 or more than ₱12,000,000 at Christie’s!  The previous record was $222,000 or ₱11,000,000 for a fuchsia gold and diamond Birkin that had belonged to Elizabeth Taylor.

This crocodile skin bag is encrusted with 450 diamonds and white gold, and as The Daily Mail reports, only 50 bags have been known to exist worldwide.

It was named after the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas which inspired its designers for the color of the bag.

It was bought by an unidentified Asian buyer. But who else would even consider paying this hefty amount for a bag? Well, A-list stars such as Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Mariah Carey are just some potential customers.
